WIP of the Week

Image
My favorite project these days is my Boo Chalkfull by Hands on Design and Priscilla Blain . I'm supposed to be doing a daily theme, working on different projects each day, but I can't seem to put this one down. I struggled in the beginning because this is my first time using hand-dyed floss. Plus, the first two colors I used were white and...well, almost-white. My backs of my pieces are generally neat-ish, but only because it makes it easier to stitch. But this one...well, as you can see, I fought hard for these first few pumpkins! I bought this project as a "kit" from Fat Quarter Shop . I'm using Witchel 14 count chalkboard, and the called for Color Works floss, which includes: My favorite part of this project is stitching the jar. You only use one strand of floss, which gives ot a transparent look. Not only does this look cool, but it is quick and easy to stitch! I am SO close to being done. Maybe...

Sneaking in Stitches

Image
I work full time, and have a husband and two kids. So many times, I have to sneak my stitches in. Here are some interesting places I have had to get my stitches is. First, I have to stitch early in the morning, or late at night when everyone is sleeping. I also do alot of car stitching.... I stitch in restaurants. I stitch on vacation.... I stitch by the pool. I have even taught my little one how to squeeze in some stitches! Where do you sneak in your stitches?

Hobby Lobby Haul

One of my February goals is to do a Fully Finished Object (FFO), or take a finished cross stitch piece and get it ready for display. I have decided to stitch the Chalkfull series by Priscilla Blain and Hands on Design, and I started with Boo.  I am going to try to finish mine like Priscilla's shown here. Her Flosstube this weekend inspired me to head to Hobby Lobby to find one of these frames: I also got some finishing material, sticky board, and white baskets for organization.  They were on sale, and who doesn't need more bsskets for organziation! As soon as I am done stitching Boo, I will try finishing my first piece!

Feburary Goals

Image
Even though February is a shorter month, I still plan on getting lots of stitching in this month.  I will for sure take advantage of leap day this year. I got a massive 15,000 stitches in last month,  so I think I'll set my goal for 10,000 this month and see what happens.  My other goals include: 1. Continue Sampler Saturday and Sunday.  I have two beautiful samplers I have been working on, and they still need a ton of work. First is the Linens and Thread 2020 Mystery SAL. I have just started on the February release. Also, my LNS started a sampler SAL, and it the first time for me stitching on linen. 2. I want to do all the Chalkfull's by Priscilla Blain and Hands on Design ! In February, however, I would be happy to finish the Boo kit I have started on and to order the Fat Quarter shop's kitted up Easter one. 3. Speaking of Chalkfulls...I was to do my very first Fully Finished Object (FFO) this month. I am plann...

January Recap!

Image
I was pretty productive in January! I made 15,948 stitches this month, with six finishes.  First, I finished the January section of the Linens and Threads SAL . This was my first SAL, and I love the colors. It will likely end up being mostly for practice, but I am having fun stitching it. Next was a finish from my January Geeky Stitching Co . subscription box. I loved stitching this little guy. The aida she uses in this box is so nice and soft. I am also on a quest to do as many ornaments as possible this year to tie onto presents, so I finished a pretty sleigh from the ornament issue of Just Cross Stitch . Honestly, I hated stitching this one. I now realize it is because of all the white, but I didn't realize that at the time.  Apparently white thread is hard for alot of people! Next up was my January Geeky Stich box. I quickly did these two owls so that I can turn them into Valentines cards. Again, they were on prett...
