2021 Cross Stitch Goals

I was surprised to learn that I had 29 cross stitch finishes in 2020. That got me thinking-- how many could I finish in 2021. In some ways, 2020 may have given me more time to stitch, with the pandemic and working from home. But actually, I still kept long work hours, finished my PhD, and taught a class. I did save commuting time, and we didn't take as many vacations. But 2021 isn't looking much different, at least for now.

So here is what I have planned for 2021:

1. Spooky Hallow SAL by Little Stitcher Girl

I am doing this SAL with Happy Little Stitch Shop, and I completed the first three in 2020. I just finished the 4th one--Dracula's Coffin Shop--yesterday, so it's my first official finish of 2021! I will try to keep up with one a month. They are pretty big stitches, so I'll do my best. The last eight in the series will take me through August, and will be a total of nine finishes. I am stitching these on Fabric Flair Hazy Grey 18 count, with Classic Colorworks and DMC floss.

2. New Country Cottage Needlework Sampler of the Month SAL + Last Country Cottage Needleworks monthly

I couldn't resist the new Country Cottage Needlework Sampler of the month, and so I joined Fat Quarter Shop's SAL. I just started January today and plan to do one per month. They look like quick stitches, but we will see. I am stitching these on 32 count Witchelt Beautiful Beige with the called for Classic Colorworks. I also need to finish one more CCN cottage of the month (February), which I have planned for this month. This will give me 13 finishes.

3. Lori Holt's Sew By Row SAL

I am doing this SAL with Happy Little Stitch Shop. It's a good add becuase we just do one row per month.  Plus I love the fabric on this for some reason-- Zweigart 28 count white. This will give me one finish by May.

4. Other WIPS

I was really bad about just buying patterns without a plan last year, so I want to get caught up on these before buying new ones. Some of these are pretty big, so I'd be happy with even one finish here. These are my WIPs I will be rotating through:

-Hello Halloween-- haven't started yet

-It's Sew Emma Mistletoe Lane

-Silver Creek Samplers My Christmas Sampler-- haven't started yet

-May Health and Peace Attend Your Days Sampler by Milady's Needle

-Chalkful Series by Priscilla Blain and Hands on Design-- I need to go through and see which ones I have completed and which I have left

-Lori Holt Vintage Christmas Ornaments-- i really want to make all of my family an ornament this year

5. Two quilts

I started my first ever quilt this year....but havent finished it yet, so I'm adding two quilting goals:

-Finish Ultimate Beginner Quilt

-Start and finish a new easy quilt-- maybe a jellyroll quilt.

In total, this would give me 24 cross stitch finishes and 2 qulits. I can't wait to see what other projects sneak in as well 😀.
